Questions

We just had a baby. How do we arrange for Baptism?

Call the parish office during regular parish hours. You should plan to schedule the Baptism three months in advance. Parents must attend a baptismal Preparation Class before the baptism, and are encouraged to do so during the pregnancy.

Can anyone be a Godparent?

The requirements for Godparent are that one Godparent must be a practicing Catholic who has received all the Sacraments . Practicing members of a Protestant denomination may serve as Christian witness, provided that the other is Roman Catholic. Because the Godparent must declare his/her belief in Jesus Christ, those who are of non-Christian faiths may not be chosen for this role.

I have been asked to be a god parent, but was told I need a sponsor form. What is that?

Many churches require a certificate for those who will serve as a godparent at a baptism or a sponsor at confirmation. The certificate says that the person is known to the pastor as a Catholic in good standing, who attends Church regularly. If you are seeking such a certificate, please see Father after Mass.

When are Baptisms scheduled?

Baptisms are held on the first Sunday of the month at the 10:30 am Mass. In keeping with the ancient Church tradition, we do not baptize during Lent, but provide adequate times both before and after the Lenten Season. Again, your child's Baptism should be planned three months in advance.
